Soul-diers! (See what I did there?)
First and foremost I hope and pray that these last several months have been filled with revelation, wisdom, and understanding from the Lord. I pray that those that have been affected by Hurricane Matthew are doing well and trusting in the Lord to provide. Remember, the enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy. The Lord says that we are to have life and have it abundantly. He is Lord.
Starting this month I want to start a new segment here on my blog entitled book of the month in which I suggest a book for that month and may even select a winner for a chance to receive that particular book.
Octobers book of the month has not only blessed me but has stretched me spiritually. The Holy spirit has revealed himself through the stories of so many women’s trials, anxieties, offenses, and struggles. I felt the need to share this book with you guys! “Breathing Eden: Conversations with God on Light, Fresh Air, And New Things” by Author Jennifer J. Camp, she’s also the writer of the devotional entitled Loop which is a women’s devotional found on the Bible App by YouVersion.
The synopsis reads:
What would it be like to share our troubles and joys openly with him, to hear his voice responding to our questions? How might knowing God’s view on our stories heal our wounds and renew our hope? No matter our circumstances, we need God’s perspective on our lives. We need to know how he sees us. Come on girl, he says. Let my light shine in. Breathing Eden is 40 raw, honest, heartbreaking and encouraging conversations between women and God. These prayers are like our own: full of pain, celebration, anxiety, and joy. Each one helps us hear God whisper love and hope into our lives. After each story is a guided invitation to listen for what God is saying to you. You are in these pages.
Your mothers and sisters and daughters and neighbors and girlfriends are here too. We all long to know that God hears us, and has something to say to each of us.
Will you listen for his response? Do you want truth? Do you want light, fresh air, and new things? Come. Breathe Eden.
As an avid reader and a friend to those who are not this book provides so much authenticity in contrast to a society who only showcases someones highlight reel. This book has provided me with a comfort in knowing that I am not alone in my thoughts and struggles and has ultimately allowed me to become the vulnerability and authenticity to the Lord that I desire to see in those around me. No matter your age, demographic, upbringing or relationship with God you will find yourself in every story.
